With Christmas just around the corner we find ourselves asking the kids what they want for Christmas. This year is definitely the year of the tablet. With 2 full size iPads being released, an iPad mini, the Amazon Kindle HD, Google’s Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 and finally the Microsoft Surface we have seen a slew of tablet releases.
Each of these tablets is geared towards a specific market. Some are more user friendly, some are more business based, and some are just a way for the company to get it’s tablets in the hands of more people. But one thing that seems to be forgotten are the kids. Kids are wanting their own tablets, instead of relying on mom and dad to give up their’s when they aren’t using it.
Most of the options above are rather expensive and not really geared towards kids. However there are several companies out there that are making tablets for kids. These tablets are usually built a little more rugged to withstand some of the roughness they might find while in the hands of a child.

So you can see there are a lot more options than the “big” name tablets that come with a big name price tag. Each tablet has unique features and they are all geared towards kids as well as furthering their education. The number one item asked for by kids this year is the new iPad, followed closely by the new iPod touch. But if you don’t want to shell out the big money for these items, then you definitely need to look into these other more affordable and kid friendly gadgets.
